AI and Enterprise Architecture

Without an explicit model, AI guesses your company.

AI agents are excellent at inferring — but markets, products, legal entities and systems should not be inferred. Clara/EA is the explicit, traceable, verifiable model that turns AI from a plausible guess into reasoning over facts.

A one-minute experiment

Ask an AI to describe the company you work for.

Markets, products, processes, systems, infrastructure. The answer will sound plausible. The question that matters: how much of it is true — and how much can you verify?

"The AI didn't make it up out of malice. It inferred because no one gave it the model."

The bottleneck is not willingness — it's context. Most companies still don't have an explicit model of themselves to hand to AI.

The distinction that matters

Without context, AI infers. With the graph, it reasons over facts.

Inference isn't the problem — it's what makes AI useful. The problem is ungrounded inference: an agent with nowhere to check the facts fills the gap with the statistically most plausible pattern. Sometimes it's right. When it's wrong, no one notices, because the wrong answer sounds just as plausible. Clara/EA closes that gap: an explicit model of the company's business and technology layers, materialized as a graph by EA/CMDB, that AI consults instead of guessing.

A

What isn't delegated

Markets, segments and brands. Products, services and legal entities. Structure, roles and responsibilities. The systems and infrastructure that support all of it. These are decisions about what the company is — not decided by unverified inference.

The proof, not the promise

Same method, same agent, only public disclosure — and the result is traceable.

To test the thesis, an AI agent received Clara/EA as its instruction and, for each organization, only its public disclosure — regulatory filings, reference forms, investor-relations portals. Nothing else. The agent returned the business architecture instantiated, domain by domain, with every statement traced back to the source that supports it.

The real difference

Giving an AI context isn't exclusive to anyone. The depth of that context is.

Grounding an AI agent in a graph to reduce hallucination is already common practice — any RAG tool or enterprise knowledge graph makes that promise. The question that decides whether the context is trustworthy is different: how far down does that graph go? Most EA Repositories on the market stop at Business Capability. Clara/EA goes down to Market, Segment, Brand and Legal Entities — the full value hierarchy, not just the technology layer.

In closing

Architecture is designed by people — and it determines what AI can safely know

Designing that structure is no longer backstage work. It determines whether AI, in your company, reasons over facts or guesses.
